P-card Audit Out

Just in case you've been living under a rock... (Link)

Treat this just like private business- fire and prosecute, recover funds if possible, all without consideration of party, faction, or ties- if laws and procedures have been broken. But we also have to observe due process and wait for the response from the Mayor's office. It's a little troublesome this audit was leaked before its completion.

Steve,

I agree. If this happened in a company setting, the employee would be fired.

We shouldn't even have to push the issue. If this was one of us, there'd be no debate, nor would we have time to hide our tracks. Why hasn't the police already been knocking on their doors? Oh that's right! We're their employers! Well I say "book em Dano!" Yep, I'm all for putting them through the judicial system, as long as it is as harsh for them, as it would be for anyone else. No slaps on the wrist, or else all thieves and robbers and forgery and fraud convicted, should be immediately released and treated with the same respect. If there is no time meted out, then none of us should abide by the laws. Officials should be more harshly sentenced, since they are suppose to be of the highest integrity and examples of excellent behaviors. No more dodging the handcuffs for them, they've had more time than the common joe out here. Time to quit doling out privileges and begin showing the rest of society that justice is equal for all.

Hey Ken, good to see you. It was good seeing you at the Bluegrass polls, too. As we add more people with business.

Yes, I'm amazed at the policies. Even other government agencies I work with have more corporate expense/reimbursement policies. P-cards were originally designed to save costs by eliminating purchase orders for small purchases (office supplies, etc).

I met one of the people that helped set up the P-cards for Knox Co, and he said there were controls available (size of purchases, no alchohol, specific vendor list), but they elected not to use them. P-cards are designed to reduce cost of govt by eliminating PO processing for small items purchased from regular vendors (like office supplies).
